Here are many commonly asked questions about Magic, by Jove shows. If you need to ask a question, click here to send an email. Your question may be posted on this page (name will be kept anonymous). Before you ask a question, check this page, for it may already be answered.

Q: What ages are shows for?

A: Shows are mostly for ages four through eight. Children under the age of four may not understand certain magic effects. Therefore this may be too young. Also, some children may receive a free trick (volunteering, birthday child, etc.) and this may be a choking hazard. Shows include comedy that is aimed towards younger children, and older kids may be bored.

Q: Are balloon animals included?

A: Yes, balloon animals are included, with birthday shows only. Balloon animals are included in the price of birthday shows. If you do not want balloon animals, you will still be charged the same amount. Please call (203.932.4474) for information about balloons with other shows. There are some safety hazards with balloons (choking, latex, etc.). Please click HERE for important information regarding balloons.

Q: How long do shows last for?

A: Shows will last for about 20 to 30 minutes, not including balloon animals or the free trick.

Q: Why do show lengths vary?

A: Show length varies depending on the age of the children attending. If the majority of the children are four years old, shows will be about twenty minutes, and if a show is for an eight year old, it may be half an hour because the attention span of a four year old is less than that of an eight year old. Basically, shows are shorter for younger children, and longer for older children. You may request any length you want, but some younger children may be bored towards the end.

Q: Where do you perform shows?

A: Shows are available throughout Connecticut and in Southern Massachusetts. Shows in Massachusetts will have a transportation fee for gas money. Contact me for more information on show prices.

Q: Are holiday shows available?

A: Yes, they are. Holiday shows can be for Christmas, Halloween, Independence Day, etc. Please call or email for information on these shows.

Q: Do you need any set-up time before shows?

A: Yes, generally I will arrive about fifteen to twenty minutes earlier than the scheduled time to set-up. More information will be provide if you book a show.

Q: Will you do a show outside?

A: While I will do a show outside, this is not recommended. The show may need to be shortened and certain effects omitted if it is raining or about to rain. Also, sun may cause certain effects to fade or warp, so if you need to have a show outside, please have it in the shade, and on leveled ground so that tables will not fall. If show is outside in summer months (June - September) you may be charged a small fee.

Q: Why do prices vary?

A: Prices vary for a few reasons. The length of shows varies, so therefore a longer show may cost more. Also, some shows involve certain effects that cannot be reused and are disposable. These cost money for every show, along with prices for balloons. Also, some shows require more set-up time.

Q: Are adults allowed to watch the performance?

A: Adults watching is highly recommended and greatly appreciated, and they can be a help by keeping children attending under control.

Q: Is photography and video-recording of the show allowed?

A: Photography is permitted, though it may not be published or put online. Because many times children help out, this is a good time to take pictures. Videotaping of the show is not allowed.

Q: Will the birthday child be able to help out with a trick?

A: Yes, with all birthday shows, the birthday child is guaranteed to help with a certain effect.

Q: Are sharp objects used in shows?

A: Sharp objects will not be used in a show. If, for some reason, they are, they will be out of reach from children, and they will not handle them.

Q: Is there a transportation fee?

A: Sometimes a small fee will be added to a birthday show for gas. Information will be provided at the time of booking a show.
